I guess he realized he’d messed up pretty quickly, according to the Corner:

He had a second go at it after a commercial break. During Q&A he stopped and said: “I just want to clarify what I said earlier on gay marriage. I believe if they want to have some sort of ceremony, that’s fine, but I don’t believe that gay marriage should be legal.”
He got booed and said, “I guess you don’t agree.”
