The EFM Feature

Today, the AP reported as follows:

Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., said Thursday that he has received the support of the head of the anti-abortion group Iowa Right to Life as he considers a bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
Brownback said he has received the endorsement of Kim Lehman, president and executive director of Iowa Right to Life.
“While other candidates are in the process of defining and refining their position at the start of this campaign, Sen. Brownback has been principled, consistent and unwavering in his support for the right to life,” Lehman said.
Lehman has led the group and been its chief lobbyist since 2000. Before that she was state director for Concerned Women for America.

Now. I like Sam Brownback. But that’s balderdash. Didn’t Ms. Lehman read The New Republic? Every candidate in this race has undergone an “evolution”–except maybe Mayor Giuliani, who continues (last I heard) to oppose a ban on the unconscionable practice of partial-birth abortion. And only one has undergone the right kind of “evolution”–one toward, not away from, the views of evangelicals, backed up with hard actions and the kind of words that can produce other converts.
