The EFM Feature

A reader names Michael wrote a note to me saying:

Tennessee dosen’t have anything over Utah when it comes to the 2000 election.

Then, he points me to this page, which shows that 67% of Utah’s voters pulled the lever for Bush in 2000.
Of course, Michael, I’m proud of Utah’s solid voting record. (I frequently say that evangelicals are already wedded to LDS folks politically. After all, if it weren’t for consistent LDS voting records, we’d have President Gore now.)
That being said, Tennessee went against its own son in 2000–perhaps you had to live here and see the newspaper articles and the magazine profiles about the man who might one day be President. So, for Tennessee’s brave defiance of Al Gore and his lock box, I’ll forever have Tennessee pride. And I’m not talking about this kind.
