The EFM Feature

Senator Thompson’s campaign keeps asking where everyone was in 1994. Now it seems to be implying that anyone who has ever changed his mind on abortion is not a “real conservative.”
Of course, this line of argument implies that Ronald Reagan, who signed one of the most liberal abortion laws in the country as governor of California and subsequently made amends, was not a “real conservative.” But leave that aside. Let’s talk about where Senator Thompson himself was in 1994. Here is what he told Republican Liberty about abortion in that year:

Government should stay out of it. No public financing. The ultimate decision must be made by the woman. Government should treat its citizens as adults capable of making moral decisions on their own.
