The EFM Feature

That’s what Jonathan Martin said in a recent blog post reacting to the bitter fighting now going on between Senator McCain and Mayor Giuliani in Florida. There’s more, but as you may have seen, Mayor Giuliani’s camp sent out a press release bashing Senator McCain as “not a fi$cal conservative” and saying, “John McCain not only voted with the Democrats against the Bush tax cuts twice, he’s voted over 50 times for higher taxes. With a record like that, you can’t tell if John McCain will stand up to the Democrats in Washington who want to raise taxes or stand with them.”
Martin is right — Governor Rommey should be smiling right now. In all the primaries so far, the conservative vote has been split among numerous candidates but the moderates have coalesced behind Senator McCain. But in Florida, it looks like the moderates are going to get a taste of their own medicine — just as the conservative field starts to winnow. That can only be good for our movement and our party
