No, it’s not in bookstores yet, but it is shipping from Amazon.com. Called Home and Away: A Story of Family in a Time of War, it tells the story of my year-long deployment to Iraq — from the battlefield to the home front. Why would EFM readers be interested? Because you’re an important part of the story. You’ll also gain insight into Mitt and Ann Romney’s extraordinary character. Simply put, you guys (and Mitt and Ann) helped Nancy get through a tough year, and you guys helped sustain my brothers in Sabre Squadron with an avalanche of packages so voluminous that it even caught the eye of General Petraeus.
But to get the entire story, you have to buy the book. Publisher’s Weekly gave it an excellent review, calling it “an earnest and engaging read that prompts a closer look at patriotism and citizenship, on battlefields and at home.”
In the meantime (and regardless of whether you buy the book), thank you again for your support during the hardest year of our lives. And for you newcomers to EFM — and judging by our exploding traffic numbers, there’s quite a few of you — welcome to a website that’s grown into a community.
