Evangelicals for Mitt is, first and foremost, a group of friends.  We aren’t part of the Romney campaign, though we’ve been working to bring Mitt and Ann Romney to the White House since 2005.  Why?  Quite simply because he’s the best presidential candidate we’ve seen in a long time.

Over the years, we’ve had lots of fun at two Southern Republican Leadership Conferences – actually, this website began after Gov. Romney beat everyone except Tennessee’s own senator in Memphis in 2006, shocking the national media.  Then, in 2010, Governor Romney won the straw poll!

Life has also changed for each of us a number of times since 2005 – both professionally and personally.  During the 2008 cycle, one of our co-founders, Nancy French, did become involved with the Romney campaign and the Romney family, each of which developments we disclosed immediately.  On the personal front, fellow co-founder Charles Mitchell got married, moved twice, and became a dad.  Nancy’s husband, David, went to Iraq for a year during the heat of the 2008 campaign.  Then, when he came back, David and Nancy added another child to their family through adoption.

Yet, throughout the years, our appreciation and support for Gov. Romney haven’t waned.  We were for Governor Romney before it was cool and we’re for him now that he’s the GOP front runner.
